Day in Triage

So I guess I should be blogging about all things Ehmke, not just the picturesque. I spent 3-4 hours yesterday at Banner Desert Hospital in Triage, becauase at my doctor appointment in the morning, the baby's heartrate was really high at first. So they put me on the monitor, and the baby calmed down and went to sleep, and then her heartrate was too steady. Yeah, I know, who knew that "too steady" was not a good thing? So I was sent to triage to be monitored for longer, and yes, to get an IV. I told the nurse I was a hard stick, and I think she took it as a personal challenge. She didn't do so well in the challenge, blowing the first vein, and getting the second one in the most painful manner I've ever had! So after ultrasound (baby is 6 lbs. 12 oz.) and more hours on the monitor, the dr. declared everything "great" and I was sent packing. Dang. I was hoping I'd just go into labor while I already had the painful IV and was already there, but no such luck. Maybe next time. Anyhow, good times..........

  1. That IV experience sounds like my most recent one! I was dehydrated a bit, so my veins kept hiding. I always make them go get the novacane if they're going to fish around.
Hope your baby stays all good- it needs a little more cookin' time, eh?
