Well, I did it. I was really glad when it was over. Not sure I'm ever doing a tri again. I really am a runner, not a swimmer or a cyclist, especially when a huge thunderstorm blows in the night before and keeps me up half the night, not allowing me more than 4 hours of sleep to prepare to freeze and suffer.
So, the equipment malfunction: so we had to jump in feet first on the swim. I bought my speedo when I was a slightly heavier weight, making it a little loose. So yeah, up the rear on the jump in. There was no way I was swimming 400 yards with dozens of spectators watching my cheese, so that cost me at least 5-10 seconds of adjustment time. Bummer :)
The bike: the bike shop adjusted the gears when putting on the new tire. So yeah, it was all messed up and when I tried to switch gears, I got enough chain rattling to make me quickly switch back before something went seriously wrong. So yeah, headwind, up hill, in the wrong gear. Good times.
The run: yeah, that was where the body malfunctioned. I haven't had a side cramp in about forever. So that stunk. I had to walk. I've NEVER walked in a race before, ever. Ugh.
But didn't the pictures turn out nice?
Next up: running, running and more running. Have I ever told you how much I love running?
